There is method behind the madness

I get asked the question a lot. How can you even do this?

What the person asking really means is how can you manage this party when it’s all about Chaos, and the simple answer is, I love a little bit of Chaos. In fact I love a lot of chaos. Nerf Surge is all about managing that Chaos.

I just got back from a Nerf party for a very sweet 8 year old boy, his classmates and football friends were all there, and before it even started I knew this one was going to be an excellent party. The kids, all got very into it, they were old enough to be competitive but not young enough to get away with cheating, and frankly for 90 minutes it was pure chaotic fun with me managing it a little bit.

You see all the kids needed were some boundaries. I play about 6 different games during the nerf wars but in reality everything boiled down to two rules, shoot your friends and try and not be shot. Obviously there were more rules than that, but that is really all we did for this hour and a half. Shoot nerf bullets and avoid the nerf bullets, but if I just gave them the guns and told them to do that then it wouldn’t be long until all the kids were bored.

By giving them different objectives at my nerf parties, it’s about managing and guiding the chaos, and these kids will always remember that one party where it was acceptable to shoot their friends.
